Specimen of Rhododendron tuhanensis, one of the world's rarest plants, presented at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh.
The plant, feared extinct in its native habitat, on the slopes of Mt Kinabalu in Malaysia, has been given a chance to be saved by the botanists of the Royal Botanic Garden; the seven specimen cared for by horticulturalists at the Royal Botanic Gardens, are now thought to be the only surviving examples of the species.
