Discover Transylvania Through Your Lens — 2026 Photography Workshops

There are still places in Europe where time moves slowly. Where light filters through mist, and every corner feels like a fragment of a forgotten story.

Transylvania is one of them.

For years I’ve travelled through its Saxon villages, photographing cobbled streets, fortified churches, and the rhythm of rural life that hasn’t changed much in centuries. Now, I’m opening that world to a handful of photographers ready to capture something raw, authentic, and deeply human.

The Concept

The Transylvania Photography Workshop is not a tour, it’s a journey through light, culture, and storytelling.

We travel across villages like Alma Vii, Malancrav, and Viscri, meet the people who live there, and document everyday life — the work in the fields, the faded frescoes, the timeless architecture.

This workshop is designed for those who want to go beyond postcard shots. We focus on seeing differently, on translating emotion into visual form, and on building photographic narratives that endure.

What Makes It Different

This is not a large commercial tour.

It’s small and personal — limited to 4–6 participants. We stay in restored Saxon houses run by conservation trusts, we travel in one vehicle, and we adapt our days to light and opportunity, not rigid schedules.

Each day brings a mix of fieldwork, one-on-one mentoring, and group discussions. We’ll review work together, explore composition, light, and timing, and learn to build a cohesive series of images.

The Experience

Mornings often start with fog rolling over the valleys. By mid-day, we explore the narrow lanes of Sibiu or Sighisoara, or photograph carpenters and shepherds in small villages.

As the light fades, we head for hilltop churches or open fields, shooting during the most cinematic hours of the day.

You’ll leave not just with a portfolio of powerful images but with a refined eye and a stronger sense of purpose behind your photography.

Behind the Lens

I’ve been photographing Transylvania for over a decade — from its UNESCO-listed Saxon fortresses to remote hamlets that rarely appear on maps.

This workshop is a way to share that knowledge, to bring photographers closer to the kind of authentic storytelling that Europe is slowly losing.

Whether you’re a seasoned professional or an ambitious enthusiast, Transylvania will challenge and inspire you — and maybe change the way you see photography itself.
